$8 table

I love to go to yard sales. As the saying goes ...

One man's trash is another (wo)man's treasure

A few weeks ago, I found a small treasure in the form of a table.

Alright, alright. It was definitely nothing to look at but I had high hopes from it.

First thing I had to do was sand it down.

Then it was time to set it all up. I put some concrete slabs on top of a towel. Then I put the table on top of that. I was hoping to not let any primer or paint get on the driveway.

Then it was time to prime the table. Luckily, it was a very hot, sunny day so I only had to let it sit for about an hour before it was completely dry. The table already looked much better

Now, it was time to decide what color to paint it. Originally I wanted to paint it black and put it in the dining room. It would then match the black table and black filing cabinet. Then, I talked to Superdad and he suggested the chocolate brown that we had painted part of the bathroom. That got me thinking. In the end, I decided to go with a white base and brown top.

Overall, I could not have been happier with the table. Now, to find a place to put it.

My sweet crazy one

We have three dogs and I love them all dearly, for thier own reasons.

One is dopey, listens to everything I say and has no enemies. She does like to eat flies, though.

Another is a fierce, protector who weighs in at a whoping 19lbs. He cuddles with the best of them

The third one is crazy...as crazy as they come. But she loves her family, especially the X-man.

I was playing around the camera the other day and managed to take a great picture of the crazy one.

It is springtime here!

Wow, the landscape around here has really changed a bunch! I am not even really sure where to start with all of this! Hmm...Let's start with what I put in last year and go from there. Here goes...

Remember these double knock-out roses?

I planted the smallest ones that I could find. I think it was a good idea considering that they now look like this!

I do have to say...They look FANTASTIC!

The lilies are up but not yet blooming. I think they will be blooming in another 2-3 weeks. That post will be interesting since there are more than 3 times the amount in that small area now.

The hydrangeas have also come up and are twice as big but not yet blooming. They will also come later.

One major change around the front yard was the removal of a tree. One of the pines was infested with bagworms (nasty little buggers) last year and I hoped it would come back this year. No such luck.

I decided to pull that tree out and plant a yellow stick dogwood in its place. I also planted some other little flowers around to spruce things up. So far, this is what it looks like.

As you see in the above picture, I also planted some flowers down that front walk and I made up some planters. That first planter has really filled out since I took that picture a few weeks ago.

A few weeks ago I also planted some roses out back. Here is how they started.

Already, just 2-3 weeks later, they look like this!

They even have bulbs on them already. I can't wait for them to start to bloom.

Here are a few other things blooming around the yard.

My yard smells so good and just makes me smile. Next, I have to get all the weeds out and get some mulch in. That is the goal for this weekend and coming week.

So, what do you think?
